Magibon - What is The Secret?

Magibon's latest video of her "staring at the camera" has at time of writing received nearly half a million views. This is only 48 hours after its release. It averages out to around 3 views per second. This video is the 16th release in her so-called "nothing" series, in which she says nothing and apparently does nothing throughout the video.

What's the secret to these massive figures for a "nothing" video?

People keep asking this question over and over again in the comments section of YouTube. Even though many of the answers are in this blog and other sites. I think that many of those people don't really want the answers, they just want to have a rant about something.

But we like the answers, so we'll keep them coming! We believe the answer to the Magibon phenomenon is multi-faceted, and tells us many things about human nature, and the nature of the Internet.

One commenter said that Magi's appeal is that she just gives and gives and gives.

Another said that in spite of the ill natured talk and comments, she is always smiling at us, always being nice to us.

Firithfenion, himself a seasoned YouTube video director, said that to describe Magi's videos as "a girl just staring at the camera" is a bit like describing the Mona Lisa as a picture of a woman staring out of the canvas. He maintains that the "nothing" video acts like a Rorschach ink-blot test, which is why it evokes such widely different reactions in different people.

Many have said that the "nothing" series helps them to relax, making them feel more peaceful and accepting of things, and, far from missing the "talk" content which is an inescapable feature of most YouTube video releases, they experience the silence as a welcome relief from the ceaseless and often mindless chatter. Some have been reminded of Zen meditation practice, as the video allows the viewer to switch off the mind and to allow it to rest, but still able to focus on the visual content.
